iWalk Mechanical Analysis

Dec 7, 2019

This was a project from both Materials & Manufacturing, ME 10, and Mechanics, ME 20. We looked at an assistive technology product called the iWalk and analyzed the stress and strain on the product when walking, and how the materials were chosen to accommodate for the forces exerted on it. In Mechanics, we made a mathematical model of the device.

The iWalk is an assistive device designed to be an alternative to crutches. This allows the user to keep their hands free and navigate obstacles more easily. However, in order to be useful, the iWalk must be stable enough to support the full weight of the user.
