Philosophy

I double majored in philosophy in undergrad, and enjoyed the coursework immensely. I've explored a wide variety of philosophical theory, focusing on epistemology, metaphysics, and ancient philosophy. I've really enjoyed the contrast between philosophy and engineering, but have also been pleasantly surprised by the number of connections between the two - like the intersections of engineering, ethics, epistemology, logic, and ancient theories of wisdom and knowledge.

Philosophy of Evolution

This course investigated the philosophical studies of evolution - issues of transmission of information across generations, reasons for adaptations, and cultural evolution.

Kantian Metaphysics

This course, called Problem of the World, investigated what the issue is with philosophers referencing "The World" - reality as it "really is" beyond what we can see.

Metaethics

Metaethics is the big-picture study of ethics as a field. What are we doing when we label something wrong/right? Is there a better way to do ethics?

Metaphysics

I took Metaphysics Junior year, where we examined questions about identity, space, time, causality, necessity, and other abstract concepts.

Philosophy of Science

Philosophy of Science is the study of scientific epistemology. What makes a science? How do we prove scientific theories, and how does science evolve?

Ancient Philosophy

I took this course my sophomore year. It is the study of post-Aristotelian ancient philosophy - stoicism, pyrrhonian skepticism, and epicureanism.

Aristotelian Philosophy

This course focused on Aristotle's ethics and logic. It explored Aristotle's complex theory for eudaimonia - a happy and satisfied life.

Intro to Ethics

This was my first philosophy class freshman year. It gave a broad introduction to common normative ethical theories.
